"Whether it be the Florida landscape
in which I grew up or the varied locales to which I travel,
place has always been a powerful inspiration for my art.
Each place gives
the artist an opportunity to explore its own unique light,
scale, texture, and colors, as well as to gain inspiration
from the work of its artists and craftspeople.
A number of my works incorporate art
objects, gaining inspiration from the forms of hand-thrown
pottery, the strong shape of an old lamp, the pattern
of Southwestern weaving or the smooth simplicity of a
white linen tablecloth on which fruit is laid. I aspire
to capture the essence of the land and the objects I
paint."
